Samsung has shown their 860 EVO SSDs series, which are based on 3D-VNAND Flash memory. The 860 EVO drives are available with 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacity. The drive will be available in three form factors: 7 mm-thick 2.5-inch, M.2-2280 and mSATA.
As mentioned above, the upcoming Samsung 860 EVO will be available in several form factors however you will not find the same capacity for all drives. The 2.5-inch version will be available in 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB variants; while the M.2-2280 version comes in just 500GB, 1TB and 2TB variants. The mSATA version will be available in 250GB, 500GB and 1TB variants.
Read and write speeds of the Samsung 860 EVO series are mentioned to top out at 520MB/s, while the manufacturer is saying that this performance can be achieved with all different file types. In terms of endurance the MTBF is set to 2'400 TBW on all the drives. Regarding random read/write performance these drives can hit up to 97k/88k IOPS in random read and writes respectively.
So far Samsung has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their 860 EVO series but we are sure we will know more during next weeks.
