Silverstone reveals ECM22 Dual M.2 to PCIe adapter

Featuring gold inlays on the PCB

Silverstone has unveiled the ECM22, a new dual M.2 to PCIe x4 adapter card. Compared to the previous version, the upcoming ECM22 should deliver more performance. With this small adapter you can install two M.2 SSDs on a PCIe x4 slot.

Compared to the previous ECM20 adapter card, Silverstone has improved the PCB by adding gold inlays that should absorb heat from the M.2 drive. The package includes a thermal pad which goes in between the gold inlay and the drive.

According to SilverStone's internal testing, on this adapter there is no need for a heat sink on top of the M.2 since that will just trap the heat. Furthermore, the temperature of the M.2 drive with the thermal pad in place is around 69 degrees Celsius. This test has been conducted with a Samsung SM951 and the temperature has been measured during a stress test.

On the back of the ECM22 there are several LEDs showing drive activity and power. Size wise, the ECM22 measures 121mm x 11mm x 157.3mm (D) and can fit two M.2 22110 drives simultaneously. Silverstone ECM22 dual M.2 to PCIe x4 adapter card should be already available for $29.99 USD.
