ASRock showcases two X399 motherboards

Two sides of the same coin

ASRock has revealed two X399 motherboards, the Taichi and Fatal1ty Pro Gaming which are usually two sides of the same coin. A few months ago during Computex 2017, ASRock has unveiled their first two AMD X399 motherboards which are compatible with the just revealed AMD Rzyen Threadripper processors. Meanwhile it looks like the company is ready to introduce this new platform.

Today we have a look at ASRock's new X399 Taichi and X399 Professional Gaming motherboards, which pack the new AMD TR4 socket, eight DDR4 DIMM slots and several new features. Both motherboards are based on an ATX form factor featuring RGB backlight underneath each heat sink. On the storage side for example, both models feature a single U.2 port, three Ultra M.2 slots and eight angled SATA ports. Furthermore there are four full-sized PCIe slots with steel reinforcements and one PCIe x1 slot.

According to first rumors, the X399 Professional Gaming will feature at least one 10 Gigabit Ethernet port while the X399 Taichi will “only” pack a standard Intel Gigabit Ethernet connector. While the X399 Taichi comes with Creative Pure Sound 4, the X399 Professional Gaming packs Creative Cinema 3 audio chip. Since these motherboards are designed for gamers and overclockers there are all your usual bells and whistles, such as power and reset button as well as debug LED.

So far ASRock has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their upcoming motherboards but we are sure we will get to know more during Gamescom 2017.
