Judging by the sheer number of rumors, that are surfacing these days regarding the upcoming Intel mainstream desktop processors, we’re closing in on the launch of these new parts. This time, the forum user "Sweeper" has posted details on the upcoming Core i7-8700K in different discussion boards all around the globe. According to him, his information comes from a reliable source.
According to Sweeper, the upcoming high-end processor will feature six cores and twelve threads with a base clock of 3.7GHz. This chip will come with 12MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 95W. One of the most interesting bits of information is the fact, that the Turbo frequency that is set to 4.3GHz on all six cores. The max frequency achievable with the Turbo is set to 4.7GHz with only one core. According to a leak from last week, they might also release a non-K version of this chip, which is allegedly supposed to run at 3.2GHz base clock, which would be significantly less than what appears to be planned for the K-series chip.
Furthermore Intel is expected to come up with two Core i5 processors with six cores. The first one is supposed to be called Core i5-8600K, it packs 9MB of L3 cache and a base clock speed of 3.6GHz. The second is the Core i5-8600 processor clocking at 2.8GHz, which is quite a bit less than the K-model. Both i5 chips don’t feature Hyperthreading.
According to Sweeper, more details on the Core i5-8600K should be incoming.
