MSI adds X370 Gaming Pro motherboard

X370 for the masses

The X370 Gaming Pro from MSI is a mid-range motherboard that comes with a few interesting features. Compared to the X370 XPower Gaming Titanium, the Gaming Pro is a cheaper, sub-150 euro board, that still packs quite a few features. At a first glance the X370 Gaming Pro looks very similar to the X370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC.

The main differences about this two models are about the LED illumination and the overall design. Like the Gaming Pro Carbon AC model the X370 Gaming Pro is based on an ATX form factor, yet this time MSI is using all the space available on the PCB. There is red backlight underneath the PCH cooler and there are steel reinforcements on the full-sized PCIe slots. In general the layout is quite simple and therefore it has also been equipped with three full-sized PCIe slots and two of them have been equipped with steel-reinforcement.

There are six SATA ports and all have been angled. Apart from that you get two M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. The M.2 slot is placed in the middle of the motherboard and it’s compatible with 22110 units and it also features MSI’s M.2 Shield which should help improving temperatures. Like with the more expensive X370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC there is also a plastic I/O cover, which received some carbon-like looking stickers and red backlight.

This particular board is placed somewhere between the entry-level and mid-range market segment, in the case of X370, and in general we think it could be an interesting choice. In order to keep the price low, MSI has changed the gigabit Ethernet compared to higher end boards with a model from Realtek. The MSI X370 Gaming Pro will become available on April 11th for a price around USD $150.
