Corsair launches Vengeance RGB memory

DDR4 rainbow unicorns from Corsair

Corsair is finally bringing RGB lighting to their Vengeance DDR4 memory lineup. Memory modules were some of the very last components allowing for RGB lighting, since it can be quite tricky to create a way to control the color on the DIMMs. At the moment the company is offering four models but we will see more quite soon.

According to Corsair, all the new memory ktis are compatible with Intel 100-series, 200-series, and X99 motherboards. The motherboard compatibility list includes a selection of Z170, Z270, and X99 motherboards yet the lower-end boards like H270 or B250 chipset based models are not included. Furthermore Corsair is working on lighting control for AMD socket AM4 based motherboards as well. It is still not clear if Corsair will release a new set of memory only for AMD Ryzen - like we have seen already from other companies - or if they will update this Vengeance RGB series.

The lighting is controlled via Corsair's Link software and there aren't any wires to fuss with. The Link software allows the user to change the settings with just a few clicks. On the Corsair Vengeance LED memory there are several options that can be selected like, for example you can choose which base color to use, the response time of the lighting bar can be altered or you can even link the temperature of your system to the color on the memory.

The Vengeance RGB DDR4 modules are available with 2666 MHz and CL16-18-18-35 timings or 3000 MHz with CL15-17-17-35 timings. There are 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB kits. All kits contain 8 GB sticks, so if you need 64 GB of RAM in your system you have to buy eight sticks. The 16 GB and 32 GB DDR4 3000 MHz kits are now available on Geizhals for 146€ and 293€. Corsair says it will introduce higher capacity DIMMs as well as kits that support higher frequencies soon. In the meantime, the above kits are available now in Corsair's online store.

  • Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB DDR4-2666: $170
  • Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR4-2666: $340
  • Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR4-3000: $305
  • Corsair Vengeance RGB 64GB DDR4-2666: $680
