Another set of benchmarks on AMD’s Ryzen CPUs has surfaced. This time it looks like the octa-core AMD 7 1800X has been tested. This model features 8 core, 16 thread and a TDP of 95W. The Ryzen 7 1800X should belong to the "Black Edition" series with a street price of $499 US.
These new results have been gathered using both the Cinebench R15 multi-threaded and in single-threaded benchmark routine. At stock clocks the AMD 7 1800X is faster than the Intel’s Core i7-6900K. In other words those new tests confirm previous rumors as well as previous testing, showing that the AMD 1800X is definitely a very quick chip.
A closer look at the results gathered with the multi-thread benchmark routine from Cinebench R15 shows that the system with AMD 7 1700X scores 1532 points, the AMD 7 1800X scores 1617 points and the Intel Core i7-6900K scores 1547 Points. Apart from that running the single-threaded routine the performance is on a similar level. In fact, in this case the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X ranks between the Core i7-6950X and the Core i7-6900K.
The new Ryzen 7 1800X works with a base clock of 3.6 GHz and boost clocks of 4.0 GHz. At the moment there aren't any details about the memory that’s been used. So far it’s know that the Ryzen media kits for reviewers ship with a Noctua NH-U12S air cooler which could be more than powerful enough to achieve 4.0 GHz. According to Chiphell, it's easily possible to reach the 4.0 GHz frequency on AMD Ryzen 7 1700 and 1700X CPUs.
Meanwhile we can't wait anymore to test the new AMD CPUs ourselves. We're especially curious to find out more about its IPC performance, which will become visible in our charts when looking at the results gathered with the CPUs set to 4.2 GHz.
