Following the latest rumors, AMD will not show Ryzen CPU with six cores and six threads with the new lineup. This rumor suggests that AMD will be unable to partially deactivate their 4-core Zen unit which means that we will not see also dual core Ryzen CPUs.
If this rumor is confirmed, AMD will introduce Ryzen CPUs with 4cores/4threads (SMT disabled), 4cores/8threads (SMT enabled), 8cores/8threads and 8cores/16threads. Since we might not see a 6-core CPUs, for AMD compete against Intel's Broadwell-E series will be not so easy. At the moment Intel is offering two models with 6cores/12threads.
Although this rumor is not yet confirmed, we are pretty curious to see how the upcoming AMD 8cores/8threads Ryzen CPUs will compete against all the Intel Broadwell-E lineup. During the last week we have seen many speculations about the AMD Ryzen prices and according to the latest rumors the new 8cores/16threads chip might hit a price between 580 and 720 USD.
Despite the launch looks pretty close we have still to wait a few weeks in order to know all the details. Meanwhile already tomorrow during the Webinar event we might see few upcoming AM4-based motherboards from ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI. Apparently we’re pretty curious to see what Ryzen will be capable of and that the new socket AM4 based boards will look like.
