Galax unveils a new solid state drive

Phison-based NVMe SSD

During their GEC 2016 event Galax has not only shown what what appears to be a single slot GTX 1070 graphics card but also a M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. Since most of the GALAX products feature a white look, it's not surprising if those new SSDs would be designed the same.

According to the picture taken from guys from XFastest the drive will be based on a Phison controller. When it comes to performance, these are definitely not slow drives, yet competition in this market is really tough. The Galax SSD can achieve up to 2'600MB/s sequential read and 1'300MB/s sequential write throughput performance. In the case of random performance it’s supposed to hit 300,000 IOPS for read and up to 200,000 IOPS for 4k writes.

So far there aren't too any additional details on this upcoming drive around. Worst case we won’t even see it in Europe since most Galax products are designed for the Chinese market only.
