HP's new Z2 Mini Workstation is an impressive mini PC

Packing Intel Xeon, Nvidia Quadro and HP Turbo Z SSD

During an event at the Autodesk University in Las Vegas, HP has unveiled its new Z2 Mini Workstation, a small mini PC that packs some serious power with up to Intel Xeon E3-1200v5 CPU, Nvidia Quadro M620 2GB and HP's own Turbo Z PCIe SSD.

Measuring at 21.5x21.5x5.8cm, the HP Z2 Mini Workstation mini PC is quite small, but still packs enough power to make it perfect for both CAD users as well as other software applications like Vectorworks, Inventor, Solidworks, Revit and others. According to HP, the Z2 Mini is "the ultimate combination of space efficiency, elegance and power," and is twice as powerful as any commercial mini PC on the market.

To be based on a wide choice of Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs, including an optional Intel Xeon E3-1200v5 CPU, optional Nvidia Quadro M620 2GB GPU, up to 32GB of DDR4 SO-DIMM memory and HP's own Z Turbo Drive, a PCIe based SSD.

The HP Z2 Mini Workstation mini PC also supports six displays, via three DisplayPort ports, packs USB 3.1 Type-C ports but also lacks any HDMI output or Thunderbolt 3 ports, which is a surprise considering that this is a workstation-class system.

Unfortunately, HP did not provide any specific SKU details but did say that the Z2 Mini Workstation will start at US $699 and should be available in December.
