Nvidia GTX 1050/1050 Ti could be cheaper than expected

Priced at US $109 and US $139

According to the latest report, Nvidia's upcoming Geforce GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti could be launched at a cheaper price than expected, putting a bit more pressure on AMD's mainstream and entry-level lineup.

According to a leaked slide from Videocardz.com, Nvidia could launch the GTX 1050 at US $109, which is cheaper than previously rumored US $119 while the GTX 1050 Ti could launch at US $139 and not US $149 as previously rumored.

While this is a mere US $10 lower than expected, bear in mind that these are mainstream and entry-level markets where the margin is quite lower and US $10 price-cut is quite significant.

In case you missed previousy reports, both the Geforce GTX 1050 and the GTX 1050 Ti should launch on October 25th and be based on Nvidia's new GP107 Pascal GPU with the same 75W TDP.

The GTX 1050 Ti will be coming with a fully-enabled GP107 GPU with 768 CUDA cores, 48 TMUs and 32 ROPs and pack 4GB of GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit memory interface. The GTX 1050 will end up with a slightly cut-down version of the GP107 GPU, packing 640 CUDA cores, 40 TMUs, 32 ROPs as well as 2GB of GDDR5 memory with the same 128-bit memory interface.

Performance-wise, the Geforce GTX 1050 Ti could end up faster than some versions of the GTX 960 and be an exceptional overclocked, especially on custom versions where it will have an additional 6-pin PCIe power connector. The Geforce GTX 1050 could put a lot of pressure on AMD's RX 460 and provide decent performance for casual and MOBA gaming.

Both cards will launch next week when we expect full reviews to appear so we will wait for those before giving our final judgement about the king of the mainstream and entry-level market.
