AMD launching Zen at CES 2017 show in January

High-end motherboards shipping in December

According to the latest report, AMD will launch its Summit Ridge desktop CPUs, based on the new Zen CPU architecture at CES 2017 show in January. These will follow the high-end X370 AM4 motherboards expected to ship in December.

According to a report from Wccftech.com, AMD is expected to have an official launch of Zen-based Summit Ridge CPUs at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2017, while high-end X370 socket AM4 motherboards will be coming in December.

This comes just after a report from Digitimes.com, which says that AMD is currently clearing its existing inventories of FX-series CPUs with aggressive price-cuts and bundles.

There should be plenty of motherboards to choose from when Zen officially launches in January and while there should be socket AM4 motherboards available even before the launch, these will be based on entry- and mainstream-level A320 and B350 chipset, meant to be used with the new Bristol Ridge APUs, while high-end X370 chipset, should come in December.

While AMD's Zen architecture sounds great on paper, we still did not see any important real-world performance details and the biggest question, which is the price, is still a mystery. Hopefully, AMD will have plenty of stock in January and its prices will be competitive to Intel offering.
