Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced its newest OCZ TL100 value oriented SSD series which will be based on Toshiba controller paired up with TLC NAND and available in 120GB and 240GB capacities.
Aimed at those looking for an affordable HDD upgrade, the new Toshiba OCZ TL100 SSD series will offer sequential transfer performance of up to 550MB/s for read and up to 530MB/s for write, with random 4K performance reaching up to 85,000 IOPS for read and up to 80,000 IOPS for write.
As noted, the Toshiba OCZ TL100 SSD series uses Toshiba's own in-house developed SSD controller paired up with Toshiba's own TLC (triple-level cell) NAND flash memory. It uses a standard 2.5-inch 7mm-thick form-factor with SATA 6Gbps interface.
Since it is based on TLC NAND flash, the endurance rating is somewhat lower than on MLC SSDs reaching 30TB TBW for 120GB and 60TB TBW for 240GB version, or around 27GB/day and 54GB/day, respectively.
According to Toshiba, the new OCZ TL100 SSD series is backed by a 3-year warranty and should be available soon with an MSRP of around €45 for the 120GB and €65 for the 240GB model.
