Toshiba has announced that it has expanded its line of 24nm single-level cell (SLC) NAND flash memory to address industrial applications as well.
The new 16 Gigabit (Gb) BENAND (Built-in ECC NAND) comes in a 48-pin TSOP package and offers a combination of high read and write performance, good write endurance and extended temperature operation, making it suitable for a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications.
According to the provided details, the new 24nm NAND SLC is available in densities ranging from 1Gb to 128Gb. The new 16Gb BENAND is based on a 4x4Gb die and operates on voltage ranging from 2.7V to 3.3V with a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, something that is quite important in industrial application.
Featuring 8-bit BCH error correction code (ECC), the new 24nm BENAND can operate with controllers that do not have 8-bit ECC capability, making it a viable option when application needs further endurance.
The new 24nm BENAND is expected to replace older generation of discrete SLC NAND in devices ranging from telecom applications, LCD TVs to robots and printers, reducing BOM costs.
The new 24nm BENAND should be already shipping to Toshiba's partners so it should not be long before we see those in some devices.
