According to the latest report, it appears that Intel might have delayed its 7nm manufacturing process to 2022.
The report comes from Motley Fool's and cites Intel's job advert for a processor designed to work at the Microarchitecture Research Lab in India, which is looking for someone to "spearhead the research and advanced development" of both CPUs and GPUs intended to arrive in the "2020 and beyond timeframe" and be based on 7-nanometer manufacturing technology.
While scheduled to appear in 2020, it appears that Intel had to delay the 7nm manufacturing technology to 2022.
Intel is expected to have three different 10-nanometer technologies, standard 10nm, 10nm+ and 10nm++, with first products coming in January 2018 and 10nm++ expected in January 2020.
With this in mind, first Intel 7nm products could be expected in January 2021, a bit earlier than the timeframe given in the job advert, at least if all goes well with 10nm manufacturing process and Intel does not hit any more delays.
Of course, we are still far away from 7nm and we still need to see how well will Intel do with future 10nm manufacturing technology.
