Nvidia releases GP100 die-shot at Hot Chips 28

Showing NVLink and HBM2 in all glory

During Hot Chips 28 event that was held this week, Nvidia has showed a detail die-shot of the Pascal GP100 GPU showing a bit more details about the chip as well as both HBM2 and NVLink components.

Packing 15.3 billion transistors on a 610mm2 GPU die, the GP100 is definitely an impressive chips and while you can't get a lot of information from a die-shot, it did show all the 30 Texture Processors Clusters, each with two Streaming Multiprocessors, four HBM2 interfaces with 4096-bit memory interface and four NVLink interfaces.

The die-shot was showed as a part of Nvidia's presentation on Pascal GPU and NVLink 1.0 and although it is not available for consumer Geforce graphics cards, it is a good insight into things to come to consumer market.

Hopefully, we won't wait too long for some of these technologies to come to Geforce consumer lineup.
