As we already know, EA's Titanfall 2 will be getting an open beta phase ahead of its October 28th release but it appears that it won't be available on the PC.
The Titanfall 2 open beta should begin today, August 19th and run over the weekend, until August 21st. A second beta is already scheduled for the next weekend, August 26th to August 28th.
Unfortunately, EA and Respawn Entertainment have decided not to give PC gamers a taste of the new Titanfall 2 game as the open beta phase will only come to Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Described as a technical test, the open beta will introduce two new Titans, Ion and Scorch as well as a few new abilities, including Grapple, Holo Point and Puls Blade. It will also include a couple of maps and a couple of different modes.
According to a blog post from Respawn CEO and Founder, Vince Zampella, the open beta phase should test if the servers scale properly. He also added that the developer is still making a lot of tweaks and changes to the renderer, the game and effects and still haven't run the game through the hardware compatibility, which is probably the biggest reason why open beta won't be coming to PC.
Zampella also added that releasing a PC beta makes the game a bit more vulnerable to security leaks, and users could reveal some details from the single player campaign which the developer wants to keep as a surprise.
Hopefully, this won't be the case for some other future open beta phases as people will certainly want to try the game out before buying it, especially PC users.
