During Flash Memory Summit 2016, Kingston has teamed up with Liqid to announce what could be the fastest 2.5-inch available now.
While we will probably wait to see it in action, the specifications and performance
announced by Kingston are quite impressive.
According to provided details, Kingston is promising sequential read and write performance of up to 3.6GB/s, which is quite impressive. Based on 2.5-inch U.2 (SFF-8639) form-factor and PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 NVMe interface, the drive will offer mixed read and write performance of 5.5GB/s with random read and write performance peaking at 850K IOPS.
While there are no details regarding the actual NAND used in this drive, Kingston did note that it is using multiple Phison PS50007-E7 PCIe NVMe controller which are aggregated by Liqid Powered technology.
According to details provided by PCPer.com, Kingston is using four M.2 SSDs placed inside a 2.5-inch form-factor chassis.
Apparently, these drives will be available with capacity of up to 3.9TB, but there are still no precise details regarding actual models, release date or the price.
Hopefully we will see and hear more soon.
