AMD Zen-based APU could have decent GPU performance

Similar to the upcoming Radeon RX 460

According to the latest rumor, AMD's future Zen-based APU could not only pack significant CPU performance improvement but also come with a Polaris-based GPU that could offer performance similar to the upcoming RX 460 graphics card.

While we are holding our breath for AMD's new Zen CPU architecture, the newest rumors coming from China suggest that the future APUs coming in 2017, which will certainly have significant CPU performance gain, could also feature a Polaris-based GPU that could give it performance similar to the upcoming Radeon RX 460 graphics card.

While we already know plenty about the Polaris GPU which is behind the RX 460, the rumors suggest that a Zen-based APU could come with a similar GPU with 11 GCN Compute Units (CUs). This adds up to a total of 704 Polaris GPU cores, which is significantly higher than what AMD offers in its Kaveri-based APUs.

Earlier rumors suggest that the APU could end up with 4 cores, 8 threads and pack 8MB of L3 cache as well as come at a significantly lower 65W TDP.

Hopefully, we will finally see AMD's Zen CPU architecture in action and such boost in GPU performance could easily kill the entry-level GPU market, pushing casual and MOBA gamers to AMD's APU lineup.
