AMD releases its Q2 2016 financial report

With $1,027 million in revenue

AMD has announced its financial report for the second quarter of 2016, finally moving to a positive side by reporting revenue of US $1,027 million, with operating loss of US $8 million.

The revenue of US $1,027 million was up by 23 percent compared to the last quarter and 9 percent higher compared to the same quarter last year. While the gross margin was up by 31 percent, it still did not push the company into profitability, but it is still better than than the last year as it only reported an operating loss of US $8 million.

Net income for this quarter was at US $68 million, $0.08 per share, which is still an income, compared to the net loss of US $109 million in the last quarter and US $181 million in the same quarter last year. AMD also got a big cash input from its its joint venture with Nantong Fujitsu Microelectronics (NFME), which got them US $150 million.

AMD say that the increase in revenue mostly come from higher sales of its semi-custom SoCs and things should be better in future due to the recent announcement of the Xbox One Scorpio and the fact that AMD will be again making the semi-custom SoC for it.

AMD also expects a boost in revenue from its newly announce Radeon RX GPU product lineup based on Polaris architecture which should be included in the next financial report. AMD was also keen that they have released several Carrizo based APUs and CPUs and has both announced its Bristol Ridge and showed its Zen CPU architecture in action, all of which will have an effect on its future.

AMD expects an increase in revenue of 18 percent for the next quarter and the company looks to stay in the positive.
