As Bethesda has released its Doom Vulkan API pathc, we already knew that AMD Radeon graphics cards should get a decent performance gain and while we had some results of AMD RX 480, today we have some details regarding other AMD Radeon graphics cards as well as some Nvidia Geforce cards.
Computerbase.de had a chance to try out the new Doom Vulkan API patch on quite a few graphics cards and it appears that AMD GPUs benefit from it far more than Nvidia ones.
According to a post from AMD, the newest Doom Vulkan API patch uses several features, including Asynchronous Shaders, Shaders Intrinsics (Shader Intrinsic Functions) and the Frame Flip Optimizations.
According to the results from Computerbase.de, AMD Radeon R9 Fury X is the one that gains the most at 2560x1440 resolution where the card is around 52 percent faster and actually manage to be faster than the GTX 1070, running on both Vulkan API and OpenGL.
The same result can be seen on 1920x1080p resolution, where the R9 Fury X gets to the top of the list with a performance increase of up to 66 percent while both GTX 1070 and GTX 980 Ti provide pretty much the same results.
We are quite sure that graphics card reviews will now include these Vulkan API results and with other games coming up with DirectX 12 support, it will be interesting to see the difference between two camps.
