AMD Vega GPU coming in 2017

No high-end GPU from AMD in this year

According to newest leaked roadmap from AMD, it appears that high-end Vega GPU will not be coming this year as it is still scheduled for 2017.

Described as "a high-end architecture for high-end gamers", there are not a lot information regarding the upcoming AMD Vega GPU architecture, other than it will be coming with 2nd Generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2).

While earlier rumors suggested that AMD might have pushed Vega launch forward, it appears that nothing has changed and we won't see any high-end GPU from AMD until next year. This does not come as a big surprise since we already knew that there won't be any HBM2-equipped graphics cards before next year and we certainly doubt that Nvidia will have it either.

This leaves AMD without a high-end graphics card until next, although some rumors suggest that we might see a dual-GPU solution based on two Polaris 10 GPUs, the Radeon RX 490. If launched, it could keep AMD in the game and put some pressure on Nvidia's GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 Pascal-based graphics cards.

Hopefully, we will hear more information during Gamescom 2016 show, which starts on August 17th.
