AMD releases Radeon Software 16.7.1 drivers

Performance improvement and fix for RX 480 power issue

As promised earlier, AMD has now officially released new drivers which bring both performance improvements as well as fixes Radeon RX 480 power issues, the Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.7.1.

As detailed earlier, the new Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.7.1 drivers lowers the current drawn from PCIe bus by improving the power distribution on AMD reference boards. It also comes with a new "compatibility mode" which can be enabled in the Global Settings menu of Radeon Settings and which further reduces total power with minimal performance impact, according to AMD. This "compatibility toggle" is set to off by default.

The new Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.7.1 drivers also brings performance improvements in popular game titles by up to 3 percent, which should somewhat offset the performance impact for those that activate the "compatibility mode" toggle.

New drivers from AMD also fixes a couple of issues including limited PCIe bandwidth issue on the RX 480, stuttering issues, video corruption and graphics issues in GTA V, Doom and Hitman games as well as minor flickering issues with Freesync and Radeon RX 480.

As always, the new Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.7.1 drivers are available for Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and can be downloaded via link below.
