MSI responds to its GTX 1080 issues

All retail will come with OC mode enabled

A recent issue where some Nvidia AIB partners have been caught with higher-clocked review samples has heated up and now MSI has come up with an official response, saying that it will ship all its future GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards with OC mode enabled by default.

While review samples had OC mode enabled by default, retail versions were set to work at lower-clocked Gaming mode, which made some buyers rather unhappy. While this was not a big issue since the OC mode could be enabled via software, it still was unfair as retail graphics cards were not the same as those reviewed by tech sites.

According to MSI, all future MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X and GTX 1070 Gaming X graphics cards will now ship with an updated BIOS, which is also available for download for those that end up with a slower version, which will enabled OC mode by default.

In case you missed it, this will push the GTX 1080 to 1607MHz base and 1797MHz Boost GPU clocks.

We are quite sure that ASUS will do a similar thing but we aren't sure if this will raise any further issues.
