Although there will be plenty of reviews today, when the AMD Radeon Pro Duo is officially scheduled to launch, it appears that some sites have jumped the gun and have already published full reviews of the new dual-GPU graphics card, showing some rather impressive performance numbers at 4K/UHD resolution and high power efficiency.
According to first results which come from Expreview.com, the Radeon Pro Duo is performing quite well at 4K/UHD resolution in most benchmarks while at 1080p resolution that difference is quite smaller. For example, the Radeon Pro Duo is up to 60 percent faster than Radeon R9 Fury X at 4K/UHD while that difference drops down to 50 percent at 1080p resolution.
The same situation can be seen when the Radeon Pro Duo is compared to the GTX 980 Ti as the difference is at up to 60 percent at 4K/UHD resolution while it drops down to around 32 percent at 1080p.
According to the same leaked review, the reference liquid cooler on the Radeon Pro Duo, coming from Cooler Master, actually does a great job, keeping the temperatures well below 60 degrees, even in Furmark, making it comparable to the temperatures on the Radeon R9 Fury X.
The power consumption of the Radeon Pro Duo is the biggest surprise as the new graphics card, despite being based on two fully-enabled Fiji GPUs, draws just slightly more than the Radeon Fury X.
It is obvious that the US $1500 priced Radeon Pro Duo is meant for 4K/UHD and VR gaming, something that AMD has been targeting all along.
