Nvidia GP104 Pascal die pictured

Coming with GDDR5 memory

Nvidia has already revealed some details about its upcoming Pascal GPU architecture, including the high-end GP100 GPU which comes with HBM2 memory, but today we have a first picture showing the GP104 GPU which should be the base of upcoming Geforce graphics cards.

Based on a more traditional design with a GPU die sitting on a standard fiberglass substrate package and GDDR5 memory surrounding it, Nvidia's GP104 die measures at 15.35x19.18mm. It should have somewhere around 7.4 to 7.9 billion transistors and will be based on a GDDR5 memory with a 256-bit memory interface.

The rumors also suggest that the GP104 could end up with around 2560 CUDA cores, which is significantly lower compared to earlier rumored 4096 CUDA cores.

The new Nvidia Pascal GP104 GPU could end up with a significantly faster 8Gbps GDDR5 memory.

Hopefully we will hear more about Nvidia's Pascal-based Geforce graphics card lineup as we draw closer to Computex 2016 show in June.
