During its GTC 2016 event last night, Nvidia showcased a GPU-accelerated deep-learning Drive PX box which is based on a pair of Pascal GPU MXM boards and also reveals a bit more details regarding the mid-range Pascal-based graphics card which should come with GDDR5(x) memory.
Although
the Tesla P100 HPC accelerator is based on a GP100 GPU with 2nd generation High Bandwidth Memory, it appears that mid-range offering could end up with a more traditional design and feature GDDR5(x) memory.
The showcased Drive PX is based on two Pascal MXM boards and used a standard rectangular die surrounded by standard memory chips, most likely GDDR5 or GDDR5X memory.
This is probably what we will also see on Nvidia's consumer Geforce Pascal-based lineup which will probably be unveiled sometime around Computex 2016.
