ASRock has come up with a new way to go around Intel's recent base-clock restrictions for non-K Skylake CPUs by implementing an external clock-generator chip in its new Fatal1ty H170 Gaming K4 HYPER and Fatal1ty B150 Gaming K4 HYPER motherboards based on H170 Express and B150 Express chipsets.

Both motherboards share the same specifications, except for the obvious difference in chipset and use an external clock-generator chip which will bypass the clock-generator inside Intel's CPUs.

This allows users to increase both base clock frequency of non-K CPUs in 0.0625MHz steps as well as tweak the memory clock.

Unfortunately, both the Fatal1ty H170 Gaming K4 HYPER and Fatal1ty B150 Gaming K4 HYPER are not exactly your high-end motherboard in terms of features and specifications and are pretty much identical to earlier available Fatal1ty H170 Gaming K4 and the Fatal1ty B150 Gaming K4 motherboards.

Hopefully some overclockers will get their hands on one of these motherboards and we will see just how good is the bypass with an external clock-generator chip and if these motherboards can actually handle a decent overclocking.
