AMD has unveiled a list of its CPUs that are currently VR-ready, and while the GPU should be the most important piece of hardware when it comes to virtual reality, some games will be CPU intensive so a good CPU is a must as well.
Earlier recommended system requirements for Oculus Rift included Intel's Core i5-4590 CPU and it appears that AMD has joined up with a list of five FX-series eight- and six-core CPUs which should handle all VR content quite easily, as long as they are paired with a decent GPU. The list includes the AMD FX-9590, FX-9370, FX-8370, FX-8350 and the FX-6350 CPUs.
Unfortunately, the list only includes some FX-series CPUs as AMD is still in a process of validating its APUs so hopefully, we might see some of those on the list, including the recently launched A10-7890K, although it is not really in line with the Core i5-4590 performance.
Hopefully we will soon see some benchmarks and get a better idea on system requirements for VR gaming as minimum and recommended requirements usually do not give a clear picture.
