Plextor has unveiled an updated version of its M6S SSD series which will still be based on Marvell's dual-core controller but use a new generation Toshiba 15nm MLC NAND.
To be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities with 256MB, 512MB and 768MB of DDR3 cache, the new Plextor M6S Plus SSD series is still based on the same Marvell 88SS9188 dual-core
controller probably paired up with Toshiba's new 15nm MLC NAND. The Plextor M6S Plus will be based on a standard 2.5-inch 7mm-thick form-factor with SATA 6Gbps interface.
The new Plextor M6S Plus will offer up to 520MB/s read and up to 440MB/s write sequential performance with random 4K performance up to 90,000 IOPS for read and up to 80,000 IOPS for write.
The rest of the features include Plextor's PlexTurbo and PlexCompressor technologies as well as a three-year warranty.
Unfortunately, Plextor did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date. It also appears that the M6S Plus will silently replace the M6S series in some regions as it won't be mentioned on the box.
