According to a report coming from Nixxes Software, which is the one that ported Rise of the Tomb Raider to PC, AMD is working on new drivers that should bring all optimizations for the game.
According to
the tech support guide posted on the Steam forums by Nixxes Software, AMD will be releasing its Radeon Software 16.1.1 drivers shortly, which will bring optimizations for the Rise of the Tomb Rider game.
While Nvidia already released such drivers, with optimizations for both the quite popular The Division beta and Rise of the Tomb Raider, AMD Radeon owners will probably miss The Division optimizations but should at least get those for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
According to the performance analysis done by Techpowerup.com, you will need at least Radeon R9 380 2GB or GTX 960 2GB to get an average of 30 FPS in Rise of the Tomb Raider at 1920x1080 and Very High settings. If you are looking to game at 1440p nothing below GTX 970 or R9 390X will give you playable framerates. To make things worse, those with 2160p monitors might have to tune down settings as neither the mighty R9 Fury X nor the Titan X managed to pull an average of 30 FPS.
Unfortuantely, Rise of the Tomb Raider currently lacks Crossfire support so a driver update will be a welcomed sight for those running more than one Radeon graphics card.
Unfortunately, the post does not give out any precise details and AMD said that they are currently working on a hotfix for Rise of the Tomb Raider but can't comment on the timing or the details.
