Intel Skull Canyon NUC spotted running at CES 2016

While there were no pictures taken, the newest report says that Intel's upcoming high-end Skull Canyon NUC has been seen working at CES 2016 show in Las Vegas.

Based on a rather small 4x8-inch (around 10x20cm) SFF PC which is less than an inch thick (around 2.5cm), the Intel Skull Canyon NUC, according to a report from Tomshardware.com, has a dark metallic chassis with slightly rounded edges and a Skulltrail logo on top of it.

It will be based on a yet to be released Intel Skylake H-series 45W CPU with Iris Pro graphics and will be soldered to the motherboard. It will also support DDR4 memory and most likely feature an M.2 SSD.

Since the 45W TDP CPU will definitely heat up significantly, Intel placed some sort of fan inside. The rest of the specifications include four USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, SD card slot, DisplayPort and HDMI output as well as a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 3.

Due to the presence of the Thunderbolt 3 port over USB Type-C, it is possible that Intel might also launch some sort of external graphics card box for the Skull Canyon NUC, but that has not been confirmed.

We already heard some rumors about the Skull Canyon NUC but this is the first time someone saw it in action so hopefully Intel will announce it soon enough. The scheduled launch date is set for Q2 2016 so we will most likely see it at GDC 2016 show.
