1.5mm tall 1TB SATA M.2 SSD

Sandisk has unveiled its newest X400 SSD, which is the world's thinnest 1TB M.2 SATA SSD on the market, the Sandisk X400.

The X400 SSD is designed for fast start-up and application launch as well as to offer an extended battery life, which are, according to Sandisk and the consumer research conducted by the company, the most important benefits for more than 70 percent of consumers using the PC.

The X400 SSD is the thinnest M.2 SATA SSD on the market as it is designed on a single-sided M.2 form-factor, being just 1.5mm tall. According to what we can gather from Sandisk's specification page, the X400 SSD will be available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities and 2.5-inch and M.2 2280 form-factors, both with SATA interface.

The new Sandisk X400 is based on TLC NAND with SLC-mode write caching technology and offer up to 545MB/s and 520MB/s sequential read and write performance with 95k and 75k IOPS random read and write.

The rest of the features and specifications include LDPC ECC and offers standard encryption with full TCG Opal support.

Unfortunately, Sandisk did not reveal any details regarding the price, but did note that the new X400 SSD will be backed by a 5-year warranty and is currently shipping to OEMs and system integrators.
