It appears that the secret of unlocking BCLK on non-K Skylake CPUs is a simple BIOS trick that enables overclocking capabilities on those CPUs and Elmor has revealed a bit more details regarding it.
We already wrote about a big news in overclocking community that allowed overclocking of non-K Skylake CPUs by unlocking BCLK and it appears that behind it is just a BIOS trick. Elmor, a well known guy in the overclocking community,
posted some further details regarding it at HWBOT.org forum, explaining that these are still in an experimental stage and have certain issues.
According to Elmor, the BCLK BIOS trick is working but lacks power management funcionality and some benchmarks, like XTU, are not working properly. Elmor also promised that BIOS releases for different boards will be released at a later stage as they require further fine-tuning.
Still, Elmor's 5.8GHz overclock of the "locked" Core i3-6300 is certainly impressive so we are looking forward to those BIOS updates.
