According to the new report, Nvidia will update its GTX 750 graphics with a new chip, Maxwell 2.0 GM206, which should bring updated specifications and new features.
Nvidia's Geforce GTX 750 has been on the market for quite some time and as it was originally based on the first generation Maxwell GM107 GPU and still selling well, it does not come as a surprise that Nvidia will be updating it with a new and fresh GM206 GPU based on Maxwell 2.0 architecture.
According to
a report from HWBattle.com, the GM107-300 GPU, which the GTX 750 is based on, is no longer available so Nvidia will supply its AIB partners with a cut-down version of the GM206 GPU, known as the GM206-150-A1. Although both GPUs have the same amount of CUDA cores, 512, it will probably end up with a higher ROP count in order to keep the 128-bit memory interface.
With the new GM206 GPU, the new GTX 750 will also be getting some new features including HDMI 2.0 support, Dynamic Super Resolution, VXGI, VR Direct, MFSAA anti-aliasing, Multi-Pixel Programming Sampling as well as support for DirectX 12 API, feature level 12_1.
With such specifications and since it won't need an extra PCI-Express power connector should make the new GTX 750 perfect for HTPCs, especially since it beings support for 1440p/60FPS and 4K/60FPS encoding and full fixed HEVC hardware based decoding.
According to same reports, the price should remain unchanged as so should the supply since Nvidia should have plenty of those GPUs available. It is still not clear if Nvidia will do the same thing to the GTX 750 Ti, but such thing should push the GTX 750 Ti too close to the GTX 950.
