Intel reports its Q3 2015 financial results

Much better than predicted

Intel has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2015, reporting US $14.5 billion of revenue, which is down by only one percent compared to the last year but still better than what was predicted earlier.

According to the announced results, Intel reported US $4.2 billion of operating income, which was down by eight percent compared to the last year and earnings per share of 64 cents, down by 2 percent compared to the last year.

The biggest hit was in Intel's Client Computing Group which accounted for US $8.5 billion in revenue, or 7 percent less compared to the same period last year. According to details, volume sales of desktop products, chipsets and CPUs fell by 19 percent while average selling prices rose by 15 percent. Notebook sales dropped by 14 percent compared to the last year but average selling price was up by 4 percent. Tablet market took a big hit as Intel reported 39 percent lower volume sales.

While the Client Computing Group suffered a significant hit, Intel's other divisions reported better results, with the Data Center Group reporting US $4.1 billion revenue, a 12 percent increase, while the Internet of Things Group delivered $581 million in revenue, which is a 10 percent and Software and Services Group reported revenue of US $556 million, which was pretty much the same as last year.

According to Intel predictions, Q4 2015 results should be quite similar as Intel expects revenue of US $14.8 billion (+/- $500 million).
