Apple has updated its iMac lineup giving all models an updated display options as well as some new hardware.
Apple has updated its iMac lineup where a refreshed 21.5-inch model can be equipped with a 4K display panel while all 27-inch iMac configurations now come with the same 5K panel that was previously available only on the high-end model.
Display wise, the resolution is not the only thing that has been updated on new iMac models, as according to Apple, these panels are capable of reproducing the entire DCI P3 color range, which is wider than sRGB gamut, all thanks to new red-green phosphor LEDs in the panel.
Specification wise, the new 21.5-inch iMac features Intel Broadwell CPUs with Iris Pro 6200 IGP while the 27-inch iMac got wide choice of latest Intel 6th generation Core Skylake CPUs and can be equipped with AMD discrete graphics cards. Both models start with 8GB of RAM and can be equipped to up to 16GB for the 21.5-inch model and up to 32GB for the 27-inch one.
There are plenty of storage options and although both models start with standard HDD storage, you can update both with a 256GB or 512GB SSD or Apple's 1TB or 2TB Fusion Drive, a hybrid SSD+HDD storage option. The 1TB Fusion Drive will offer 24GB of SSD storage while the 2TB option will get you 128GB of SSD storage.
Apple has also updated the wireless keyboard, trackpad, and mouse that it ships with new iMacs. The Magic Keyboard no longer needs AA batteries but has its own integrated battery, charged via Lightning port while The Magic Trackpad 2 and Magic Mouse 2 also have their own batteries. The Magic Trackpad 2 is bigger and features Force Touch while the Magic Mouse 2 does not get a Force Touch but is lighter. The Magic Keyboard is a US $99 accessory while the Magic Trackpad 2 costs $129 and the Magic Mouse 2 is priced at $80.
The new/refreshed 21.5-inch iMac starts at US $1,499 while the the 27" iMac starts at US $1,799.
