Samsung is aiming for the mainstream virtual reality (VR) market, as the company has just unveiled its new and cheaper Gear VR headset priced at just US $99.
During the Oculus Connect 2 developer conference currently in session in Los Angeles, Samsung has announced its new Gear VR headset and it is obvious that Samsung aims for mainstream market with the price of US $99.
According to Samsung, the new Gear VR headset has improved touchpad on the one side of the headset, new directional pad on the other side, which should improve navigation and is actually 22 percent lighter compared to the predecessor.
Samsung obviously aims to cash in on its smartphones as the new Gear VR will work with the new Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 smartphones as well as the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones.
The new Gear VR is expected to be available by Black Friday, which lands on 27th of November and we are sure it will be quite popular due to its US $99 price tag.
