As if the recall of the Shield Tablet was not enough, Nvidia's Shield Pro Android TV console is now suffering a recall due to HDD issues.
According to the report, the recall is limited to Shield Pro console with a 500GB HDD, while the non-Pro device with 16GB of flash storage should be fine.
Nvidia has posted a short notice at its Geforce Community site stating that the problem starts with the device's failure to properly update during a System Upgrade, which is present with the latest Upgrade 1.4. It appears that future updates will also get the so called fastboot error and and is currently diagnosed in less than one percent of Shield Pro units.
As it was the case with the Shield Tablet recall, Nvidia will RMA all the devices and all you need to do is contact Nvidia Customer Care for a replacement and it will even ship replacements outside of the US.
This recall does not come at a good time for Nvidia which recently did
a neat blog post and PR show on Apple TV device, comparing it to the Shield and Shield Pro consoles.
