According to a latest report, PC market will continue to drop and will take an 8.7 percent plunge in the 2015, with tendency to decline all through 2016.
Although it has taken quite a fall in the last few quarters, it appears that PC sales will decline all through 2015 and 2016. According to International Data Corp. (IDC), PC shipments will drop by 8.7 percent in 2015 and will continue to decline in the next year, while first sign of growth is expected in 2017.
IDC says that major reasons behind the drop are the global economic situation, large inventory of systems in teh channel and free Windows 10 OS upgrade. Due to recent decline in sales, many distributors are left with high volume of inventory and are looking to clear it, which is pretty much why the sales will continue to drop. Microsoft is partly to blame, as by offering a free Windows 10 OS upgrade, has left manufacturers stranded since the new OS works perfectly on older systems.
IDC expects a modest recovery next year, where free Windows 10 OS upgrade will no longer affect the PC market and distributors should clear their inventory, forcing new notebooks and systems to customers.
Hopefully, the market will rebound even earlier as this will have a clear effect on many manufacturers.
