AMD Radeon R9 Nano to be priced at US $649.99

Might end up faster than the GTX 980

Although it should officially launch today, we now have a bit more information regarding both the performance as well as the price of the upcoming 6-inch Radeon R9 Nano mini-ITX graphics card.

According to the latest report from Wccftech.com, the Radeon R9 Nano will be a specific product aimed at enthusiasts that are building compact ITX/SFF gaming PC.

With the same Fiji GPU as the Radeon R9 Fury X, the Radeon R9 Nano will pack quite a punch and will be up to 30 percent faster than the Geforce GTX 970, which is also the highest performing mini-ITX graphics cad from Nvidia. It could also end up faster than the Geforce GTX 980 in some scenarios and you can't find the Geforce GTX 980 in mini-ITX form-factor.

Unfortunately, since it is based on the same GPU as the R9 Fury X, AMD has apparently decided to put the same US $649.99 price on the Radeon R9 Nano. With Geforce GTX 980 and GTX 970 selling for US $465 and US $299, it is obvious that AMD will try to get a premium on the fact that it is the fastest mini-ITX graphics card.

At that price point, R9 Nano is definitely a niche product reserved only for those that are looking to build a high-end SFF gaming build and will not have an impact on the graphics card market.
