Cherry unveils new Cherry MX Silent switches

Quietest mechanical switches around

Cherry has decided that Gamescom 2015 show is a perfect place to unveil its new Cherry MX Silent mechanical switches that have patented noise reduction system.

While mechanical switches are pretty much what most, if not all gamers use, both due to their actuation and feedback, these were a bit on the loud side, but not any more, according to Cherry.

While we still do not have full details regarding them, it appears that these use some sort of integrated two-component tappets which should reduce the click sound to "the acoustic minimum at the top and bottom ends." It apparently does not use rubber/silicone O-rings but rather have an integrated solution inside the switch.

The new Cherry MX Silent switches wil be available in regular and RGB versions as MX Red 40g and MX Black 60g variants.

The new Cherry MX Silent switches are currently exclusive to Corsair which has launched the new Strafe RGB Silent keyboard with those same switches.
