On 29th of July, Microsoft is going to launch its new Windows 10 operating system and also the Xbox is going to benefit from the new OS. Although it's not yet perfectly clear what will be supported, it's going to be possible to use the Xbox One with keyboard and mouse.
In a tweet, Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, disclosed, that there will be support for keyboards and mice for the Xbox One.
Quote:
Keyboard and mouse support for Xbox would need to be there for this [streaming of PC games to Xbox One] to work, those are not far away.
Using the Xbox One with keyboard and mouse will essentially turn the device into a PC. This would be a big advantage over Sony's PlayStation 4, since it would for example be possible to play real time strategy games on this Xbox, which wasn't possible, since controlling such games with the Xbox controller is virtually impossible. Apart from that it would open the Xbox up for all games, which are available Windows 10, which would be a huge competitive advantage.
It will be interesting to see what Microsoft's plan for the Xbox One are. In essence this device is a low-end PC, which could run some rather interesting (older) games very well. It would be great to find a fully-fledged Windows 10 on the Xbox One, since this would turn the Xbox One in an even more flexible device.
