It looks like Microsoft is putting the final nail into the coffin, when it comes to optical disk drives. In the case Windows 10 it will be possible to order the operating system on a USB flash drive. We've been waiting for Microsoft to ship USB keys to install Windows for at least five years and, at last, with Windows 10 this is happening.
Checking Amazon reveals that Windows 10 can already be pre-ordered and there are actually versions of it where it is delivered on a USB stick. This is something we enthusiasts have been waiting for ages and it felt like for ever until this finally happened. If in the past we wanted to install Windows quickly, we first had to create a USB stick ourselves copying the files from the DVD. We're really happy to see that this "ancient" solution of installing an operating system from an ODD is finally going to phase out.
