While it is obvious that most enthusiast and gamer motherboards come with either Intel or Qualcomm Killer on-board LAN chip and have mostly replaced Realtek on that front, that could change soon as Realtek is preparing its own Dragon Ethernet chip.
According to a report from Anandtech.com, the new Relteak on-board LAN is based on the new RTL8118AS chip and will offer better performance with lower driver overhead for small UDP packets, something that online multiplayer games like, as well as a lower power consumption compared to the competition like Qualcomm Killer E2200.
Realtek has even started a new branding for the chip and we are quite sure that we will see plenty of those on future motherboards, especially if the promises made by Realtek are true.
According to the same report, the new Realtek Dragon Ethernet chip will debut on ECS LGA1151 motherboards.
