It appears that AMD is not that confident in its CPUs as while it might be powered by AMD's latest Fury graphics card, the Project Quantum SFF PC, unveiled at E3 2015 show, will be also running on Intel's CPU.
According to details, the Project Quantum is based on ASRock mini-ITX motherboard with Intel Core i7-4790K CPU as well as two Fiji graphics cards in Crossfire, Crucial Balistix RAM and AMD branded SSD. While AMD will surely use its own RAM as well as its own SSD, it appears that the heart of the Project Quantum will be Intel CPU, at least for now.
It is not yet clear if the actual barebone and finished product will still be based on an Intel CPU or will AMD offer some sort of AMD CPU choice once it releases Project Quantum to its partners, but for now it appears that Intel CPU is the way to go.
In case you missed it, AMD Project Quantum is an SFF system which is completely liquid cooled with custom Asetek cooling system and features two Fury graphics card, which should give it enough performance punch to run most of the games at high resolution and high graphics settings.
Unfortunately, we still do not have a precise launch date for AMD's Project Quantum PC but it could come later this year.
