As Google I/O 2015 is scheduled to start tomorrow, May 28th in San Francisco, Google is expected to show its latest Android M OS, also internally known as the Macadamia Nut Cookie.
According to details
spotted by Droid-life site, citing Hiroshi Lockheimer, the VP of Engineering for Android, Android M will be only around for around a year, when it should be replaced by Android N, expected in 2016, and followed by new Android releases every year, including Android O in 2017 and Android P in 2018.
This also means that we will not be getting any minor "incremental" yearly releases but rather full new Android OS every year.
According to details from several sites,
including GSMArena.com, Android M is expected to bring better battery management as well as better memory optimizations, something that has been plaguing quite a few smartphones.
In any case, we will be keeping a close eye at Google's Google I/O 2015 conference for an official announcements.
