52 Million copies of GTA V sold

Budget of 265 Million USD

GTA V has been the most expensive game to develop in video game history. Rockstar North had a staggering budget of 265 Million to develop the title, which meant they'd have to sell quite a few copies to break even.

As it turns out Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar North have managed to sell 52 Million copies of GTA V. These numbers include sales on all platforms. GTA V has been launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. Two months later the version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One bacame available.

After launching the title for next gen consoles, it took Rockstar North almost one and a half years to finally release the PC version of the game. Although the wait was actually quite long, it looks like it was worth it, since the graphics do look better by quite a lot. Nevertheless malicious gossip has it, that the PC version is just another console port, that has not been properly optimized for mouse and keyboard. On the other hand there are the huge sales numbers, which are a clear indicator that the game cannot be too bad after all.
