EVGA has announced it is offering a free backplate with select EVGA GTX 970 graphics cards.

The new "free backplate" action from EVGA is a limited time deal and only available at participating retail/e-tail shops and will include a free backplate for the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC (04G-P4-3975-KR) and EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SC (04G-P4-2974-KR) graphics cards.

You will still need to install the backplate but it is a nice move from EVGA, although those versions of the GTX 970 should have come with a backplate in the first place.

According to EVGA, a backplate acts as a backbone for your card, boosting rigidity by providing extra support to the PCB, protecting critical components, reduces GPU temperatures and also looks cool.

This limited time deal will end on April 30th and is available in the US, Canada and couple of retailers/e-tailers in Europe.
