Project CARS can run at up to 12K resolution on PC
1080p for Playstation 4 and 900p for Xbox One
Project CARS is probably one of the most anticipated games when it comes to racing simulation genre and Slightly Mad Studios' have revealed some details regarding what to expect from the game on various platforms.
While 4K/UHD resolution is the next big thing for PC gaming, Slightly Mad Studios' is pushing things a bit further as according to game's official website, PC players will be able to push the resolution to as high as 12K, as long as they have a hardware for it. Of course, frame rate will depend on that hardware setup and judging from what we had a chance to see so far, you will need some serious graphics power to run it smoothly at that resolution.
While PC gamers will enjoy 12K and some rather stunning visual details, Xbox One drew a shorter straw as it will only be able to run the game at 900p in order to reach 60fps. Sony's Playstation 4 console is a bit better and will be able to achieve 60fps at 1080p resolution.
Slightly Mad Studios has already announced both minimum and recommended PC system requirements and minimum ones include Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 or Phenom II X4 940, Nvidia GTX 260 or Radeon HD 5770 and 4GB of RAM. The recommended requirements are a bit higher and include Core i7-3700 CPU or AMD FX-8350, Nvidia GT 600 or Radeon HD 7000 series as well as 8GB of RAM. While recommended specifications are a bit higher, we doubt that these will give you playable frame rate at 12K resolution.
As announced earlier, the game will be available on the PC, Playstation 4 and the Xbox One and is scheduled to launch sometime during next month.
